CACHORA, ORPHANAGE IMPROVEMENT

Mission: Establish a formal study room, with a small library, for a remote village orphanage.

In the very cold and isolated village of Cachora, hours away from civilization, there is an orphanage called Pueblo de Ninos. The orphanage houses 27 orphans and/or abandoned children from several nearby villages. To survive, everyone, including the children must help with the various responsibilities, including: taking care of the animals (cows, pigs, chickens, etc.); the entire manual process of growing and cultivating crop; washing clothes and dishes by hand; cleaning restrooms; keeping the grounds and rooms clean; helping each other in just about every way possible; etc.

Our goal for this project was to provide the orphanage with a formal study room or a dedicated area where the children can study, read, and do homework. Thanks to donors like you, we were able to significantly enhance their simple study room with: a new paint job; new tables & chairs; a small library containing reading books, dictionaries, atlases, and maps; two new large black boards, a variety of educational posters; enhanced lighting in all three levels of the room; and a some educational games.

In all, the project cost $290 and took about three days to complete. The orphanage, however, still needs much needed support with clothes, jackets, shoes, etc. If you would like to make a donation to help this orphanage or other Mission McNeill projects, please click below.
